The Airline is based at Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates. It was Founded in the year 1985 by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Prime Minister of UAE) and operations commenced on 25th October 1985. The airline is operated under the Government of Dubai however the scale of the company means they are very much an international entity with bases worldwide. It is the largest middle-east airline which operates around 3,000 flights per week. Operating flights to 133 cities in 77 different countries and across 6 continents around the globe, they also operate four of the worlds-longest nonstop commercial flights from Dubai to LA, San Francisco, Dallas and Houston.

In the late mid-1980’s Gulf Air, a Bahrain based airline company stopped it’s routes to Dubai International Airport which resulted in the foundation of Emirates Airlines. So, in the year 1985 The Dubai Royal Air wing which belonged to the Dubai Royal Family provided two of the airlines first aircraft to them. The startup capital of the company was only $10 million. In October 2008, they moved all of it’s operations at Dubai International Airport to Terminal 3. This is now a dedicated terminal due to the airline’s rapid growth and extension.

They have one of the most advanced and modern aircraft fleets in the sky and now have over 199 Aircraft in service. They are always striving to meet increasingly-important environmental standards for air transportation. One of their flagship planes, the new Airbus A380, embodies 30 years of Airbus experience in applying intelligent innovation to new services – resulting in its excellent performance in terms of environmentally friendly operations.
